1st Voyage
In 1492, he sailed from Europe to America. He and his sailors crossed the Atlantic Ocean, not knowing
where they would land. In his first journey, Columbus visited San Salvador in the Bahamas (which he was convinced was Japan), Cuba (which he thought was China) and Hispaniola (where he found gold).

Christopher Columbus was 51 years old and still sick when he departed on May 11, 1502 on his fourth and final voyage. This adventure included 4 ships holding about 140 men. During the later part of the fourth voyage, he was attacked and the other ships were damaged.
He left for Hispaniola on April 16th 1503, but there were more damage in a storm off the coast of Cuba. Unable to travel any farther, the ships were stranded in St.Ann's Bay, Jamaica, on June 25, 1503. For a year Columbus and his men remained stranded on Jamaica, but then a Spanish person rescued him.
